Watering the flowers

Hi there friends. It is now Friday evening, last day of September and a big day for cardmakers tomorrow. World cardmaking day. I will certainly be doing just that, making cards, as I have 2 classes next week and samples to make and kits to prepare, so my plan is to craft most of the day.
My card to day was made for a very dear friend whose birthday is today. It was cut on my Cricut with  an SVG file from Creations by AR

The paper I used was from Wilson & Macglagan,,,green floral. The file included a seed packet, but I put a small posy of flowers into my card, so made a tag with the sentiment and decorated it with punched flowers.
She was very happy with her gift.
I am entering it in the following challenges:
Cricutblog...world card making day
Aud Sentiments....Happy Birthday

Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy the day tomorrow.

A little gift box

Hello friends,
Thursday already, so the weekend is truly in sight.  Today I have a box to show. It was made for the Duo challenge with a free template. If you apply for the template you need to do the challenge, so I have just sneeked mine in. Wanted to take some more angles of the box, but the battery on the camera  died, so will have to make do with just this one.

Paper ......Bazzil cardstock and the DP from Wilson & McClaughlin. On the top are 2 die cuts from Nellie Snellen MFD, they are not too visible and the roses I made with punches. Love making these.
Not much more to say about it really, It was simple to put together.
Should be back on the weekend with something more to show, but the weather here is just glorious at the moment....just really need some rain....maybe on Saturday...so spending some time tending to the garden and a little matter of a big tournament in New Zealand where our boys are playing tomorrow.
Wishing you a good day for the end of the week and a wonderful weekend. Have fun.

Sewing birthday wishes

Happy Sunday,
Hope you are all having a lovely day, whatever you may be doing. The weekend is almost over, and getting ready for a new week. My Sunday was a little bit upside down. Was woken at 3.30 this morning by the security company telling us they detect now power from our alarm system........they were so right, we had no power and not for the next 12 hours. Of course I then battled to get back to sleep......anyway, there are lots of things that one cannot do without power.... but I was able to do a bit of tidying in my craft room and worked on samples for my class next week.

The card I have today was also made during a craft session 2 weeks ago. It is a centre step card, as the ladies requested this to be made. Here's what I used:
Paper:  The name on theDP  pack is Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and all the edges were inked with Vintage photo
The doily is a Nellie Snellen MF die., stamped with a sentiment from Country Crafts and rubber stamps.
The sewing machine, cotton reels and buttons are all cut from Bazzill card with Joy cutting dies. I wound some thin ribbon thread round the cotton reels. Finished off with lace and beads.
I am entering this in the following challenges:

Paper Play....Punches and Dies.
Cute card Thursday....Anything goes

Wishing you all a very exciting week. take care and have fun.

Anyone for skating yet???

Happy Friday blogging friends.
Yes another week done and dusted and a great weekend to look forward to, My card today was made for someone special in mind. One of my students has a granddaughter Racheal. She is just 9 years old and does ice skating. She has just come back from taking part in the SA national championships in Cape Town. In her  group she was the youngest and skated beautifully, but missed qualifying by 1 point. She was very disappointed, but said, never mind next year I will know what to do and is now practising very hard for another event in October. So this is the card I made for her, just to wish her lots of success in her future ice skating  events.

The ice skate was cut with my Cricut, using a file from   Creations by AR . I am still not very familiar with this piece of equipment, and it is a challenge for me every time I use it...more practising I guess.  The DP is from Papermania, and the cardstock is Bazzil, put through the cuttlebug and some glitter added.. I punched holes and threaded a narrow ribbon, for the laces, tied at the top with 2 little star charms. A computer generated sentiment to finish. I was fairly saitisfied with the result.
I have entered it into :
Challenges by AR... Sports

Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy what you are doing.

Back again with 2nd challenge card.

Hello again....
Well I don't often get to post twice in a day, but the deadline is looming and if I get 2 entries in I get a freebie, so here is my second card, and what I used.

Paper...blue card, matted DP from October afternoon.
This time I used an image from Jen's digi stamps I once again printed onto watercolour paper and coloured with aquarelle's. The pages of the book I edged with a gold pen.  I printed a second image and cut out the book and hands and mounted it with foam pads for a bit of dimension. I also added some glossy accents to his glasses. I cut out the image and mounted it onto a Nestie die cut, using foam pads.
Sentiment was computer generated.
That's it from me for today, have a great week and have fun.

1st entry for CDAC challenge

Good morning friends,
Hope this Wednesday finds you all enjoying a good week. Mine so far has been very hectic, with classes, candle orders....spring brings with it weddings, celebrations, functions, etc...and candles are needed for these.
I had forgotten that we only had 2 weeks for the  CDAC progressive challenge round 2, so had quite a surprise on the weekend to realise time was almost up. Anyway managed to get something done. This is my first card, hopefully will get a second one up later today.

The theme for this round is Back to School.   The image I used is  from Stamp-n-doodle
I printed it onto watercolour paper and used my distress inkpads to colour it and added some glossy accents to the apple. I cut it out with an X cut die, mounted onto green card.
The DP is from Kaisercraft...Class of 87 collection. and another piece I used without a name.
Sentiment is computer generated.

Hope to be back later with a second card.

1st birthday

Good morning friends and a happy Saturday, I hope you are all enjoying a lovely weekend. We are having great summer weather, even though it is only beginning of spring, it has been very warm. I still don't trust the weather and expect we will get a cold blast some time this month. A number of years ago, we actually had snow here in Johannesburg on this day...so anything can still happen.
The card I am showing today was made for the 1st birthday of Hobby Dee. This is my DIL hobby shop in the Netherlands, and I was lucky enough to have been there last year for the opening. The first year has been very successful and I am sure she is just going to grow...the shop I mean. In fact it is moving to bigger premises later this month....will visit in December and see what it looks like. Anyway to the card. I had seen a similar one in a Dutch hobby paper... The base is a coffee filter paper, which has been covered and decorated. This is what I used Paper: 4 cup coffee filter. DP from Kaisercraft ...chanteuse collection Image...Henry Mouse..Whiff of Joy..couloured with distress inks and some stickles added Nellie Snellen Die cut Sentiment... Whiff of Joy finished off with seam binding and some pearls The shaped tag for inside was made with pink cardstock. I cut lime green tags and stamped the name onto them, hung them from a paper string mounted with brads. The number was cut with my cricut and put through the cuttlebug and a cuttlebug flourish to finish. I have seen some other ideas using a coffee filter, so will try them out some time. I am entering this in a few challenges:
Crafting when we can...Do it your own way. This is a new challenge.
 Stamptacular Sunday..The sky's the limit

Having a busy weekend, as we are off to our youngest grandson's 3rd birthday party this afternoon and tomorrow my DH and I are celelbrating our 46th wedding anniversary, so being treated to a lovely outdoor lunch by my other son and DIL.As there is a big Rugby competition in New Zealand for those that follow the game, we will be watching and supporting out Springbok team tomorrow as well.

Enjoy the weekend whatever you may be doing. Have fun and take care.

Packet....Card...???

Hello Friends, Wednesday already, Hope you are having a good week.. I haven't posted anything for a week.....but have been rather busy, I was asked to do a class at a local craft store, where I had previously done a demo on my packet cards. These are samples of the cards that I made, using ordinary brown paper packets. They are fun to do and the ladies loved them. I will enter in the following challenges
 Make it Monday...anything goes
 Marianne Designs...anything goes
Craft your days away challenge..Make your own flowers
The first card was made using Papermania papers...Hampstead range. These are so lovely to work with and were used to promote the papers in the store. I attached a butterfly cut with a Marianne design die using a cream shimmer paper. Flowers were made using Marianne dies and Nellie Snellen MFD. The sentiment on the inside is from the local store and the flourish and flower again using a Marianne Design die. The second one is a Christmas card with a tag. I had made another one as a sample with a stamped image, but the store owner wanted to keep it as a sample. This one was made with some 3D pushouts mounted onto a Nestability diecut and peel off corners. Very simple and easy to make. The tag I had embossed with a cuttlebug folder and attached a smaller diecut with a peel off sentiment. The ladies had great fun, and I have been asked to do another class next Tuesday.... so lots of preparation and planning. A busy time as one of my grandsons is having his 3rd birthday party and we are having a wedding anniversary this weekend as well. Then there is rugby world cup to watch, where South Africa are defending their title, and spring has arrived, so the garden is crying for attention...we will see what gets done. Hope you all enjoy your week, have fun and take care.
